Our Battle Cry
A Christian Military Spouse Memoir
Our Battle Cry is structured around the duty stations that shaped nearly two decades of Jennifer’s marriage. Each chapter takes its title from a question military spouses ask themselves in the quiet hours: How do I know if I’m strong enough? Where are those who will come alongside me? How do I say goodbye?
Told through journal entries, transcribed video diaries, and reflective narrative, the book doesn’t offer easy comfort — it offers the lived texture of deployments, moves, aging parents, and the slow work of building community in places never meant to be permanent.
At its center is a truth every military spouse knows: you are not alone.
From the Foreword
Our Battle Cry carries a foreword by Mrs. Betty Welsh, spouse of the former Chief of Staff of the United States Air Force, who met Jennifer at a roundtable for military families and recognized in her a shared calling to support military spouses.
Why This Book
This isn’t a book about having survived military life from a distance, looking back with all the answers. It’s written from inside the questions — the ones asked at 2 a.m., at a moving sale, in a hospital room during a webcam birth, on a graduation night spent saying goodbye to a whole community at once.
Our Battle Cry will resonate with readers of Mission-Ready Marriage by Ashley Ashcraft and You Are Not Alone by Jen McDonald — but tells its own story, in its own voice, with its own hard-won hope.
