Our Battle Cry

A memoir of faith, family, and finding your way through military spouse life — one goodbye, one deployment, one victory at a time.

How do you cope when the needs of the nation are more important than those of you and your children? When you are a military spouse, you are fighting for your family while your soldier is fighting for their life. The battle is on two fronts — and sometimes you wonder if you’ll be strong enough to make it through.

Hi, I’m Jennifer.

For nearly twenty years, I’ve been a military spouse — through deployments, cross-country moves, an overseas posting, and now another move halfway around the world. I’ve had a baby while my husband was deployed. I’ve said goodbye to my parents not knowing when I’d see them again. I’ve built community from scratch more times than I can count, and had to walk away from it just as many.

This isn’t a book about having it all figured out. It’s a chat over coffee with a friend — the kind of honest, sometimes messy, always hopeful conversation I wish someone had handed me twenty years ago.

Our Battle Cry

A Christian Military Spouse Memoir

In this book, I share how I not only survived but learned to thrive despite deployments, difficult moves, and the challenge of keeping it all together when my soldier was downrange. I’ve moved all over the world while juggling the needs of aging parents and raising my children. I found support through building community, even in an ever-changing environment.

Even when it’s been hard, it’s always been worth it.

In life we share our stories to make ourselves stronger. Letting others see inside what’s usually behind closed doors is an opportunity to grow.
